ST. LOUIS, 3RD OLYMPIC GAMES, 1904
The 1904 Olympic Games in St. Louis were also held in conjunction
with a World's Fair. This, again, detracted from the importance
of the Games. Few items are available which relate directly to
the Olympiad. For this reason, we are also offering some memorabilia
from the World's Fair, which celebrated the Centennial of the
Louisiana Purchase from Napoleon.

Visit to the XI Olympic Games in Berlin 1936. Brown linen, 33x24.2cm
(13"x9.5") oblong, containing 31 stiff cardboard pages
with 63 pages filled with about 85 pasted-in documents which he
received in his function as IOC member in Berlin.
A two-page handwritten letter by Pierre de Coubertin starts the
album. Numerous invitations, brochures, addresses, identity cards
for the Berlin Olympic Games and his Honor Pass to all events;
complete IOC Session documentation, July 29 and 30. Many inaugurations
and respective addresses of all events connected to the Olympic
Games; invitation by Goebbels with an actual photo of Goebbels
and Hitler, instructions to entry of Hitler and IOC members at
opening ceremony; IOC dinner with seating assignment close to
Hitler; a dinner reception by Hitler; the first class Olympic
order diploma with original ink signature by Hitler. Also included
are postcards and photos. Most interesting are his handwritten
notes for each day and his comments throughout the album. Generally
in EF condition. A unique documentation of an important Olympic

22 reeds represent the cities where Olympic Games were held since
1896. Gathered by 2 goldplated brass bands, the top band displays
the Atlanta torch logo and the quilt of leaves design, the bottom
band lists all Olympic cities since 1896. The wooden pecan handle
represents the connection of the flame between heaven and earth.
The flame was lit in Olympia. It reached Los Angeles on April
27 and ended 84 days later in Atlanta carried by 10,000 relay
runners, horses, bicycles, trains, ships, and hydroplanes. EF.
